Artist's Comments

So I originally did this near the beggining of my account...and now I've looked back and since I was so disgusted with it I completely redid it. I'm ALOT happier with this version. Again it's still based completely off of larafairie's Light Pollution II. If you guys haven't seen her gallery yet, you really, really, really should, she's absolutely amazing (alright, no more fanboy-ism) So for this picture I think I nailed the shadows. Instead of using the Shadow Burn I used Midtone Burn, so the shadows are fleshy, and not grey. I created another layer and coloured it beige, then put a filter on it. Seriously It just added SO much to this picture, alot more texture and a nice feel.
So after seeing this you HAVE to check out [link]: AND [link]

Nice work, I think you have captured her well here :) And I agree, Larafaire is an amazing artist!

But I think it's only fair that you provide links to her site, or to stock you use in other works of yours. The standard rule when using work that is not your own is to provide a link to the source and to also send a link of your deviation to the artist who you've borrowed from. Not only is it common courtesy but it allows people viewing your work to compare your work to the original :) And allows the other artist see what you've done with their work, it is usually exciting for them to see other people being inspired by their work! But sometimes they get angry if they didn't want their work touched by others, so it's always wise to check out their rules if they have any.

To put a link for a deviant account or their deviation, just type the url eg. [link] then put : on the end :)

If I have told you something you already know I sincerly apologise :D

Keep up the great work :D

You say that we're too young, but maybe you're too old to remember.
:iconbaronmar:
all in Photoshop 7 with the reference pic right at hand. the reason it looks like that is because I put a textured filter on it, but set it to low opacity so it wouldn't have such a strong effect on the picture.

I give critiques, to be taken seriously, no "OMG THAT'S SO PRETTY"....unless of course it actually is.

The sketchy lines give it a free feel and the minimal shading works well with (balances) the flattness.

Thanks for the comment.

I like her a lot. the hand is amazing. I think maybe she would look more life like if she were lined in brown, not black. But you could have had a reason for the black, in which case, good job!

Excellent skin tone work. I like~ I'm not a Sin City fan, but this is well fleshed out and a lot of work went into it. Nice.
